What is the default US stock market data?
Every subscription plan on Twelve Data provides access to real-time US stock market data. This data is sourced from the IEX exchange and various CFD brokers, collectively representing approximately 5% of total US trading volume. It is available for both personal and commercial use.
Nasdaq data
For users seeking a more comprehensive real-time or 15-minute delayed market view, broader trading volume coverage is crucial. This includes data from major US stock exchanges, such as Nasdaq and NYSE. Twelve Data provides this enhanced market coverage through licensed Nasdaq data.
Personal usage
If you require stock market data for personal use, you can subscribe to any of our paid plans. The Grow plan includes data with a 15-minute delay, while the Pro plan and higher tiers offer real-time Nasdaq data. There are no additional fees for this service; however, you must provide your legal name and address for Nasdaq’s reporting requirements. This information will be shared exclusively with Nasdaq. Failure to provide accurate details or any attempt to falsify information may lead to immediate service suspension and potential penalties.
Commercial usage
For commercial use, obtaining a direct license with Nasdaq is mandatory before accessing real-time data through Twelve Data. Our support team is ready to assist you throughout the licensing process if needed. Alternatively, you can begin by submitting the Nasdaq Datafeed Approval Request form to initiate the required licensing arrangements.
What about historical data?
Historical data, also known as end-of-day (EOD) data, becomes available after market closure. Unlike real-time data, it does not require a license and is accessible starting with the Basic plan. This data covers 100% of US trading volumes, aggregated from over 15 US stock exchanges, providing comprehensive market insights.
