Commercial and personal usage

Business vs. personal use breakdown

Business plans (Venture, Enterprise, Enterprise+)

Business plans allow the use of data for commercial display and internal usage, subject to exchange licensing requirements.

Price data for regions outside the United States requires additional approval for commercial use. Any redistribution of data requires a separate agreement with Twelve Data.

Individual plans (Basic, Grow, Pro, Ultra)

Individual plans are intended strictly for personal or internal use.

These plans do not permit:

  • redistribution of data

  • commercial display of data to third parties

Note on ASX market data

ASX (Australian Securities Exchange) market data is restricted to internal use, regardless of your subscription tier.

Any external use, including redistribution, requires an additional license directly from ASX.

ASX data is governed by specific data policies that limit access beyond standard subscription features.

For further assistance, please contact the Twelve Data support team.

Access to ASX data for internal use requires:

  • a Pro plan (individual)

  • or a Venture plan (business) or higher

You must also complete the required registration form so that Twelve Data can maintain compliance records with the exchange.

To display ASX market data publicly, it is mandatory to obtain an official Redistribution License directly from ASX.

In addition to the exchange license, this type of usage requires a Venture (business) plan or higher.

Metadata Visibility and Subscription Access

Your API queries may list exchanges not included in your subscription tier. For instance, when using the /exchanges, /stocks, or /symbol_search API endpoints, exchanges like CXA or ASX may appear. This provides transparency by showing a full catalog of supported exchanges, but access to price data for these exchanges is determined by your subscription plan.

Monitoring and Updates

The availability of data can change due to dynamic licensing and regulatory agreements. We recommend monitoring announcement sections, update logs, and API documentation for the latest updates regarding exchange access and data availability.
